The Jewel Scarabs of the Chrysina genus exhibit stunning metallic colours in life, and were once prized and worn as living brooches. Mainly existing in high altitude cloud forest regions of Central Ameria, the Jewel Scarabs are rarely encountered.
Now immortalised as solid metal, the Chrysina Jewel Scarab can become simple yet striking jewellery, making the most of the natural beauty of the insect.
The solid metal cast is made from a mould taken of a real Chrysina Jewel Scarab, which was found dead in Arizona and prepared through a series of castings and wax processes.
The legs and underside of the beetle are hollowed out to lighten the piece allowing for more comfortable wearing.

The Sacred Scarab piece is a contemporary take on the ancient Egyptian icon of Khepri - a re-imagined symbol of the importance of invertebrates, and the relationship we have with them in the natural world - since dung beetles of all kinds play a vital role in our ecosystems but are so often overlooked.
The original Scarabaeus sacer specimen was found dead in Italy. As with the Jewel Scarab, a lot of work is done to prepare the specimen for the best possible mould to be made. This beetle is now available as a solid metal cast, wearable as a striking pendant, which captures all the original detail and anatomical structure of the insect itself.
The legs and underside of the beetle are hollowed out to lighten the piece allowing for more comfortable wearing.
